When the blog anniversary slipped by . . .

The twelfth of October was my fourth blogoversary but as I was in Assam, it slipped away surreptitiously. I remembered the same but just had to suffice with a smile and a thought from the pages of memory. What if I hadn't written a post marking my milestone? What if I didn't celebrate the lovely passage of years with my fellow blogger friends? What if . . . Well, does anything change if I didn't write a post. No, it doesn't. That I had an anniversary is a fact. Isn't it?

Well, many so called important dates slip by without any big celebration or announcement but the importance associated with those days don't change. Now, what happens if we forget those days? Does anything change? If I miss my sister's anniversary, does anything change. My sister might think that I have forgotten in the humdrum of life but does that change anything for her. Minus the emotional feelings, nothing.

Are remembering dates all that important? A tricky question when it comes to women who like when dates are remembered. Remembering takes effort and that effort is caring, I presume. But inspite of all this, I think that remembering varies from person to person.

Now, you might wonder why is she writing so much about dates and memory when the fact is that she has missed her blogoversary :)

Okay, let me stop about dates and memory.

I must thank all of you for the wonderful journey and the experience you have given me during the years. Let's rise a toast for the fourth year! I would also like to leave the link of a few blogs that I have discovered this past year. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have:

Peter who blogs at Windgrove - Life on the Edge

Bhumika who blogs at Bhumika's Boudoir

Sandhya who blogs at Maradhi Manni

Dawn Sievers who blogs at Healing Morning

Astha who blogs at Butterflies and Hurricanes

Sumana who blogs at This & That

All said and done, I am happy about the progress of this blog and my readers who make me smile with gratitude.

  1. Hey happy 4th blogoversary Susan! And yes some people attach a lot of importance to dates and anniversaries, while for some it's not that big a deal for them.

Wish you all the best always!

  4. Yay to your 4th blog anniversary. I am in my 5th year as well. I've only recently started reading your blog, and I find your posts gentle and brimming with warmth. You are a positive person, Susan. Wish you many more successes. And, you are right, I obsess over dates too. It hurts me when people close to me miss important dates in my life.

  7. Cheers to the 4th anniversary and all the other to follow! (and dates are not as important as occasions - sometimes we need reasons to celebrate when life becomes to mechanical :)

  10. Dear dear Susan Deborah!
HAPPY FOURTH, Babe! It is pleasure for me, that I dropped by hereduring your celebration. Many fine momanets we have shared here, your doctorate, even your marriage, and your "always impeccable" English.

And your heart--for that is from where many of your words have come. And yes, you made me go back to when I first bravely posted, July 7, 2008...but I have NEVER remembered. Maybe from now on I will...hopefully there will be lots of "from now ons"--grin!!!

    Love ya, Susan Deborah!
    PEACE!

    1. What a lovely comment, Steve. I could give you a long and tight hug for this one. Your wonderful words make me happy and I am smiling from ear-to-ear.

2008 is a cool year. Many of us started writing in that year and I so remember how I started following the man who had a fiddle as his profile picture. I think I first saw your comment in Nevine's blog in 2009 and hopped over to find your posts :) Long time, we have been here.

  12. Are remembering dates all that important?
The exact dates are not important - anniversary - birthdays - death anniv. - the dates are irrelevent, but if you remember the incidence and it still lingers in your mind, then you can be sure its a milestone that cannot be forgoten easily.

  13. Congratulations Susan. Beyond the issues of time, remembrance and emotions, it's nice to celebrate just because it's a good excuse to acknowledge something special. And you are special. I always enjoy reading your thoughts and I'm grateful to know you.
