For the first time, in my four years of blogging, I am participating in a blog event - Blog Tag . . . You're it - a blogging chain event where lovely bloggers from 28 countries around the world are writing on one topic, Sometimes I wish . . .
This post was preceded by Ron Reed, who actually blogs but has titled his blog, IF I HAD A BLOG! He is a very soulful and deep writer who leaves insightful comments whenever he visits your blog. I am glad to be succeeding him in this event.
Sometimes I wish . . .
Having been given to extreme flights of fantasy and day-dreaming, I should mention that I have sometimes wished that I could be given the power of becoming invisible when I choose to be. I could listen in during conversations and hear what moves people, what turns them on, what irritates them and what makes them live the lives they are living.
Being invisible, I would be able to traverse boundaries and mountains without the hassles of visa and money, like Dave so eloquently mentioned in his post. I would sneak into kitchens and discover the secrets behind seductive-looking recipes and steal the cellars for the oldest red wine.
I wouldn't need the trappings of clothes, make-up, bags and shoes to live a life and I would be glad to leave them unattended.
Being invisible, I can escape without being captured by any camera which I detest and I could enter closed security doors without being detected and change the papers of policy-makers wherever necessary.
I could use the power of being invisible to bring smiles and joy to anyone who is in need of them by giving them surprises when they least expect it.
And, finally, I could sleep perched across a treetop blessed by the touch of dew or in Johnny Depp's home without being traced! What a life that would be!
This is a wish that has sustained me during many of my vacant hours right from my childhood till date and this wish will always remain a wish. Though the acts that I could have done have changed from time to time, the desire to become invisible has always remained :)
This post will be succeeded by Suzy who blogs at Someday Somewhere. Whenever I land at her place, I start humming the song "Someday . . .," by the cheesy MLTR. Suzy who loves travelling and photographing was born in India and has spent some time in India and during that time fell in love with Bollywood and the many colours of India, some of which are showcased in her blog time to time. Stop by her place for some colour, fun and some interesting stuff from her collection of memories.

Love your imagination! You’re as creative as J.R.R. Tolkien. I’m reading The Hobbit yet again, and that Bilbo Baggins can slip the magic ring on his finger and disappear from sight, even hide from Gollum and the evil spiders. You could do that if you had a ring, Susan. Get you one of those magic rings.
ReplyDeleteAh, Debra, I am a great fan of JRRT. I wish I had that precioussssssss. Alas! it can only be a wish for me. Sigh.
DeleteThanks for coming by, Debra :)
An absolutely awesome wish. Thanks so much for the lovely introduction. I was actually born in India and spent many many years there so India is very close to my heart.
ReplyDeleteSuz, I quickly edited the detail about you being born in Bombay ;) We are kindred souls, you know. Glad to know you.
DeleteBeing invisible! Wow!! Such a fascinating wish Susan...
ReplyDeleteThis;
I could use the power of being invisible to bring smiles and joy to anyone who is in need of them by giving them surprises when they least expect it.
Happens to be the most beautiful wish - AMEN to it <3
Privy, a wish is just a wish. Sigh!
DeleteYeah, that would be very convenient... the gift of turning invisible, along with the gift of being able to fly like the birds.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Karen. Imagine all the country singers whose houses we can inhabit without being found or chased away :)
DeleteWhy didn't I think of this? A super cool wish.
ReplyDelete:) You have to be visible, Janu.
DeleteHaha...I'm having visions of you walking into Johnny Depp home and running out screaming that you don't want to be invisible anymore! I have an overactive imagination - like yours, I see. ;)
ReplyDeleteI do like the notion of changing the papers of policy-makers! Let me know when you're wish comes true.
Ah, naughty Corinne. How can my wish ever come true? This wish will always remain a wish.
DeleteSusan - What a lovely post and wish. I especially enjoyed the things you would use your special powers for like "I could use the power of being invisible to bring smiles and joy to anyone who is in need of them by giving them surprises when they least expect it."
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful imagination :). If you do get your wish, please share the recipes, wine...and say hello to Johnny for me.
Be well,
Ron
The recipes and wine -- will sure do, Ron but Depp does not know you. Perhaps I can direct him to your blog ;)
DeleteWhat a pleasant idea to wish for something like that :) Now, you have me sitting here [with my morning coffee] thinking about all I could do if I was invisible. How fun! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you imagined lovely stuff, Mary. I would be glad if you state atleast two of the things that you would do, if invisible.
DeleteVery creative and different thought! May your wish come true... I liked the Johnny Depp part! :D
ReplyDeleteJohnny Depp ;) Shilpa, keep way from him. This is a warning! If I ever turn invisible I shall see to it that none of you get close to him.
DeleteLOL!! :D
Deleteha i think it would be really cool to be invisible...think of all the things you would be able to get into...or just find peace when you need it as well...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely cool :) Smiles.
Deletethat's a wonderful wish to come true!
ReplyDeleteBut it won't.
DeleteI loved your wish, Susan! I have wished to be invisible from time to time, too. What fun that would be! And, you make it sound so grand, doing all those things to make others happy.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done!
Blessings!
Grand! yes. This is just the tip of the iceberg, Martha. There are so many things that we could do, if invisible.
DeleteI don't know Susan. I suspect you're quite outspoken (in a really good way). So unless you also wish for being silent, I don't think invisibility will work for you. Still, I hope all your wishes come true.
ReplyDeleteMyrna, you make me see me in a different way. i had never thought about that -- the silent part. Sadly, I cannot remain silent for long and that may null the power of invisibility.
DeleteThanks Myrna. It gives me joy to know that you know me so well. Proud.
Big big hugs :)
Hi, Susan Deborah! ~
ReplyDeleteYou are such a Magical Child -- I delight in your imaginative stories! Thank you, Thank YOU, for all that you are!!!! XOXOX
Ah, Linda you know how to make people feel special and nice. And, I so love you for that.
DeleteMany many thanks for the beautiful YOU. Hugs and kisses.
Hmmm!!! H G Wells got there first...and if you happen to read it (or re-read it) you might change your mind Susan about invisibilty being great shakes....besides,ask yourself- do you really want to know everything that goes on behind closed doors? Will you still keep your sanity seeing all the dirt hid behind nice facades? if thats what you want- i hope you get your invisiblity cloak in the mail soon....(p.s.will email Santa on your behalf)
ReplyDeleteThe devil's advocate. Doktor, even without being invisible, I am quite appalled by the way things run here. You are right when you point out certain things. Being invisible always has a very romantic notion and you have burst that bubble. I never thought of horrid things while I was thinking of being invisible. Thanks Dok, for that reality bite (that bit me hard).
DeleteWhatte wonderful wish...! I want to be like this right now :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome read Susan :)
Cheers,
Anand
Life's like that
Anand, how sweet you are. Lots of love :)
DeleteI have read your post finally in full and it was truly fun Susan.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, I'd wish the same things but right now I guess I need to be more visible ;)
You have a fantastic imagination :P and a really joyful heart. Thanks for sharing.
Lots of love :*
Good to see you here, Mel. I am always visible and too loud as well. I wonder how I could remain invisible for a long time!
DeleteThanks for coming by and making me smile with your lovely comment.
I finally got around to reading your post. I'm sorry, I meant to read it earlier, but I wanted to be focused so I could embrace it fully. And, I did!
ReplyDeleteInteresting wish you have... Sometimes I wish I was invisible too. But then I think... Will anyone ever notice me if I'm invisible? Wouldn't I just go unnoticed? Sure, I'd have great fun on my own, but would that be enough? I'm too big of an attention seeker to be fulfilled with that (although, I'm very adventurous as well - a born explorer!). So, I'd rather stay visible for now. I wish YOU good luck, though! ;-)
Just because no one should notice, I want to be invisible!
DeleteThanks for the luck but sadly I will never be so.
Dear, dear Susan Deborah.
ReplyDeleteI am right with you on all those wishes except...except,
EXCEPT, 'sleeping over' at Johnny Depp's house. Don't know why? I never 'liked' anybody prettier than me...and yes (sigh!) it HAS been a lonely world alone for lo these many years.
--grin-a-roni
Love and PEACE, Susan
Sleeping over?!? Whoever mentioned a sleepover, Steve? Naughty Steve. I just want to share the same space. he can sleep wherever he wants ;)
Delete"prettier than you?" No one at all.
Love you my dear Steve :) Come to India and stay with us for some time.
I am prone to endless hours of mind travel as well. Good thing I write fiction. I'm like you, I've not participated in blog hops or games. However, since there are a handful of writers (you were one) that I read and enjoy, I thought I might give it a go. As for being invisible, you know this one I never dreamed of, I wanted to leap tall buildings, sing, dance, soar with the birds, but being invisible, hmmm. Lots of ramifications. I might have to have morals or something (learning secretes, heavy burden). :-) And thanks for stopping by my blog and sharing. It's appreciated.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can meet on one of those travels, Brenda. Let's fix a date ;) Perhaps at Macchu Picchu!
DeleteThanks for coming by dear Brenda. Your posts are as savvy as you!
Joy always,
Susan
Dear Susan, me thinks you need to borrow that invisibility cloth/cloak from Harry Potter.;) I am back and enjoyed this beautiful piece. We all have secret wishes.;) Mine is not so profound.;) I wish I was 10 years younger.;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend dear friend.;)
xoxo
So so glad to have you back, Zuzana. Hope you had a great time offline.
Delete10 years younger?!?! Well, you are perfect as you are!
Take care and lots of love to you.
Joy always xoxoxo

ReplyDeleteall the best for the event
Bikram's
Thanks Bikramji. A wish that will always remain a wish is this wish but I pray that the wish you wished will come to pass.
DeleteAhhhhhhhh.. being invisible..add that to my wishes...lol...I would love to be a fly on the wall to learn of lives ..their pains and joys....to watch their lives play out....wow now you have me rethinking everything LOL... As always...XOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI know. Great to be invisible na. Love it.
DeleteLots of love today, dear Bonnie xoxoxo
Deborah,
ReplyDeleteMost people think it would be great to be invisible to get away with not such nice things, but all of your thoughts were so lovely and sweet. I like the one of bringing joy and smiles to others. I think if I were ever asked what super power I might want to have, being invisible might be my first choice. Your post made my day happier.
Thanks for coming by dear Kathy. Welcome here.
DeleteI'm very happy to know that this post made you happy. Now I am happy. The cycle flows. Lovely, isn't it?
Joy always :)
It's funny that i have always had that same wish. I always wanted to be invisible and help people secretly. I would imagine myself rescuing someone drowning, or holding the door to an old lady. i would stop a thief or catch a child who is falling. Now that I think of it, I wonder why did i need to be invisible to do all these things?
ReplyDeleteSometimes only when we are invisible, some things can be done. Somehow, when I do something, I would not like to be acknowledged and so working invisibly would do good for me ;)
Deletelovely, lovely, lovely, oh so creative wish... maybe your wish can't come true in the literal sense, but sometimes the only 'real' that matters is what we can imagine. I tell this to my oldest daughter, often... she has a very similar wish. so instead of telling her of its impossibility, I'm teaching her about Walt Disney.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your wish!
What a lovely comment, Amy :) Loved it.
DeleteWelcome here.Tthanks for stopping by. I am glad that Blog Tag has enabled us to find some good blogs and people.
Walt Disney, a man whom I admire and like.
Joy always :)
Love this. What a wonderful dream/wish, I love the fantasy in this , my dream from child to now has been for flight, to fly around the people I love to help and make them smile. weird I know but as a faerie it could be done...lol
ReplyDelete"Susan was here ..." Yes, I can see how the magic would grip a child and follow her through into adulthood ... you lead a happy life with the world of invisibility to help you escape in times of need ... and each time you do so, you will return to the 'here-and-now' re-charged, re-energized and smilingly ready to deal with the next job.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post.
With respect, Pat.
Ooh what a fascinating wish, Susan! :-) Your wish reminded me of the invisibility cloak in Harry Potter hehe Being invisible would be exciting as that would allow me to sneak into international planes and travel to other countries without being asked for a VISA! How awesome would that be?! :-)
ReplyDeleteDelightful read, Susan! Take care always and God bless! ❤ :-)
